Students will learn to understand that earthquakes have causes and effects that are classified as either human and/or physical which are either short or long term. By testing a hypothesis, students will try to find reasons why some earthquakes are more catastrophic than others.

    • Good opportunities to use primary sources to understand the impact of volcanic eruptions. Possibilities for discussion and debate regarding those that are affected by earthquakes. String links with English in creative writing activities; pupils have to express their own opinions.
