More About Pricing

Teachable.net allows contributors to be paid per copy of the resource downloaded.  We believe this encourages the most talented teachers to upload their best material.

• The default for one paid-for file is one credit per download.
• This credit typically costs the user 90p, and we share this 50:50 with our contributors (our Contributor Reward scheme).
• Teachable.net uses the remainder to market the site, develop the Teachable.net technology and pay our group of editors and moderators who maintain the standards on the site.

If you feel your individual files are more valuable than £1 per download then it is possible to sell them for more than one credit, but you'll need to email us about this. However, bear in mind that compared with a CD-Rom containing hundreds of files, users on Teachable.net are paying for each individual file.

If for any reason you’d rather give your resources away for free, you can opt to do so. That means you won’t get a Contributor Reward, but you may get more people downloading the material.

When a file should be free

1. When the resource is in the public domain already, or you are not the copyright holder
2. When you are seeking the widest possible audience for your resource, without payment back
   
3. An answer sheet or page of notes that does not have inherent value
4. When you as a buyer wouldn't use a credit to download it...
   

All resources (free and paid-for) our subject to the standard Creative Commons copyright.

We will only be making our payments annually via cheque or PayPal in August of each year.  We can only pay out if you have earned more than £30 of Contributor Rewards within the previous academic year - so please ensure you submit enough quality material to earn your downloads. We will notify you by email of the reward owed to you in July; please keep your contact details up-to-date, otherwise we may have difficulty making the payment.
We reserve the right to suspend payments to contributors if they are in breach of our terms and conditions.

All paid-for resources shared on this site will be subject to a Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike license. That means users who have paid can share the resource within their school, as well as modifying it for their own class. We interpret this license to mean that the resource can also be uploaded to the schools’ own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), but not posted publicly to any website that would seek to earn revenue directly, or indirectly through links or advertising - ie non-commercial. The key condition is that every time the resource is copied (on paper or on a disc) it must be attributed to Teachable.net (and through the Teachable.net link to the contributor).

As the contributor of a particular file you hold the copyright, and have the right to publish the same material elsewhere or change the copyright conditions. You are granting Teachable.net the right to sell the resources on it's site only. Other users and editors may produce derivative versions of your resource within the terms of the license.
