For Content Developers and Professional Publishers

Why get involved?

Along with teacher contributed material we are keen to provide professionally produced teaching resources to our members, especially video and Flash files that cannot be easily produced in the classroom.  As the fastest growing network of teachers in the UK, we welcome you to submit files that have direct relevance to the UK curriculum, and preferably broad appeal to different regions and school types.

In all cases we prefer you to contribute material which is editable by teachers (in Word, Excel or Powerpoint format), but can also upload PDFs, and MPEG or Flash files as links.  All files are subject to Creative Commons copyright, allowing teachers to edit them and share them within their school providing they do not remove the attribution to the  producer (you).

We prefer you to upload and tag your own files, and ensure the submitted material meets our formatting guidelines.  However, we may be able to do this work for you if you don't have the time:  please ask at contribute@teachable.net.

There are three different reasons why Teachable.net could help you distribute teaching materials.

1. As a not-for-profit initiative

To charitable / governmental organisation, who aim to get a range of quality online teaching materials widely used by teachers,  we provide a direct way for teachers to find your best material:
  • All material submitted as free will remain permanently and freely accesible to our members (it is free to sign-up to the site)
  • We have a very sound financial and IT support structure, so we can guarantee high standards of site availability and download speeds (more details on request)
  • Our sophisticated yet simple search and browse functionality allow teachers to find your resources exactly when they are needed for the class
  • Your resources will benefit from all the teacher-directed marketing we plan for the site over the next year
  • Detailed reporting every six-months so you can find out what sort of teachers / schools are downloading your resources, and which files are proving most popular

2. As online marketing for paid-for content

We are very happy to host files on our site that advertise or promote other material you are trying to sell to teachers (either online subscriptions or traditonal books/ CD-Roms) providing:
  1. The submitted file or link itself contains valuable, high-quality educational content that teachers can use as a stand alone file
  2. The advertising is discreet. e.g. front or back slides attached to a Powerpoint to advertise the further resources, a link to further material included with the file or an accompanying set of notes explaining what further material can be purchased
Our subject moderators decide how far you can push these limits, so please upload what you think is appropriate, or email contribute@teachable.net for more guidance.

3. As an extra channel for paid-for content

Teachable.net offers you a new way to reach schools outside of your area (and even internationally).  We already have a generous revenue sharing deal for our teacher contributors - 50% of all download income from the files, paid annually.  If you have more than 50 quality files to contribute (or a packaged CD-Rom that could be split into individual topic resources) we can offer:
  • An upfront payment to start the distribution agreement and cover your time investment in uploading to the site
  • Ability to set pricing from £1 to £5 per download
  • Ability to brand resources on our resource listings pages
  • Reciprocal benefits from all the teacher-directed marketing we plan for the site over the next year
  • Detailed reporting every six-months so you can find out what sort of teachers / schools are downloading your resources, and which files are proving most popular
