Marketing Assistant

We are looking for a marketing assistant to directly support the Managing Director, Edward Upton, with day-to-day marketing activities and longer-term campaigns.  As an early employee of a fast-growing internet company you will have the chance to really shape the future of the business.

•    Flexible, part-time work: 10 – 20 hours per week
•    Can be mainly working from home (a second phone line can be installed at your home at no expense)
•    Travel to meetings at Teachable’s small office near Overton, Hampshire at least weekly
•    Looking for a bright, personable self-starter who can be flexible and dynamic when faced with very varied tasks
•    Initially temporary (£10 to £15 per hour) but could become permanent

Experience required
•    At least 3 years working in marketing / PR / events for an established business
•    Formal marketing qualifications useful but not essential
•    Proficiency with MS Office and internet is essential
•    Must be able to work independently and without supervision

Main responsibilities
•    Calling lists of potential sponsors and partners for Teachable
•    Organising a series of small training events throughout the autumn
•    Handling an ongoing email marketing and PR campaign
•    Setting up meetings, calling other P.A.s, organising small events
•    Handling (mainly email) correspondence with our fast-growing group of teacher-users
•    General support – proof reading, handling printing, calling contacts etc

Extra duties (for the right person):
•    Managing some of the website content
•    Recruiting and week-to-week management of our freelance editors and contributors
•    Organising PR campaigns and calling journalists
•    Organising future larger events, including extensive planning and co-ordination

Teaching Advisors

Teachable has an advisory board of 4 senior teachers who help moderate the quality of materials, and advise on liasing with schools. We are looking for two further advisors to help expand the site into other areas.  Most of the work can be done in the evenings at home, and you would liaise directly with the Managing Director.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has had more than 5 years experience of school teaching, preferably with some kind of leadership experience
  • Is excited about promoting a new and fast-growing initiative aimed at helping teachers save time and effort
  • Has a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint etc) and other ICT in the classroom
  • Has a network of current or former teaching colleagues at a range of schools
  • Preferably has some commercial experience outside of teaching, or experience of organising commercial initiatives on behalf of a school
We can pay a consultancy fee (matched to your teaching experience), plus 50 credits-worth of downloads from Teachable.net per year.   In return the advisor is expected to attend four teaching board meetings a year (to be held in South-East / South-Central England), along with one teacher event / exhibition (again in London/ South-East).  Travel expenses will be paid.
